Safonia is now holding individual auditions for all voice parts for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
Auditions
Safonia is an auditioned choir.
Here is what you can expect for the audition process:
Auditions will be held on July 8, 2025 during a time slot from 6:00-8:00 pm in Denver. Location will be given when the form is filled out below.
Singers should prepare an excerpt from By Night by Elaine Hagenberg — specifically measures 32 through 66 in their preferred voice part (S1, S2, A1, or A2).
You will be asked to sing this selection in a small group with other singers performing the alternating voice parts.
Rehearsals / Expectations
Rehearsals begin in August, with a break after the concert in December, and begin again in January and go through the May concert.
Attendance at all rehearsals is expected for all members, but if you cannot attend a rehearsal, notify the Artistic Director and your section leader.
Practicing and learning your music at home is expected for all members, so that rehearsal time can be spent working on the artistry of the music.
The Artistic Director and Section Leaders provide practice aides for all songs which can be found on Safonia’s website, to help with practicing at home.
Members pay dues of $25 per month (Jan-Dec) plus a $50 music fee for each season (once in fall, once in spring) and a one time choir attire fee. Dues can be paid all at once, or broken up and paid monthly.
Safonia rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm at Wheat Ridge High School
Culture
Safonia is a welcoming and supportive group. We strive to lift each other up and provide a wonderful experience singing together. We have post-concert parties in order to celebrate all our hard work. We build outreach opportunities into our concert season like singing at assisted living communities.

Concerts
Safonia has two concerts in the fall, generally in October and December, and two concerts in the spring, one in April or May, and one being the Colorado Treble Festival concert.
Memorization is not required for most songs.
Concert attire is generally concert black during most concerts, and jeans and festival t-shirt for the Colorado Treble Festival.
